In October of last year Motherboard gained access to a massive, secretive Bitcoin mine housed within a repurposed factory in the Liaoning Province in rural northeast China.

This is the infrastructure that keeps the digital currency’s decentralized network up and running, and its operators are profiting big time.

The mine we visited is just one of six sites owned by a secretive group of four people, part of a colossal mining operation that, as of our visit, cumulatively generated 4,050 bitcoins a month, equivalent to a monthly gross of .5 million.

  1. Can someone tell me what gonna happen when the last coin will be mined? As I know it will be 2140…
Another question in my mind: If bitcoin can reach 1200$ by some speculative investors, what gonna happen when this evolutionary money will be accepted by banks and society? Imagine everyone want 1 bitcoin! Just ONE …where will the price sit?!
Dont forget this: Behind bitcoin are manyy intelligent people who believes in it! So many of them shouldnt be wrong….or do they?

  3. Keep it up Chinese people, the trajectory is that majority of Bitcoin users will be within the border of China chiefly because of the population.

This got me thinking how the central government will react with this decentralising technology, should be an interesting thing to watch.

  4. I think whoever composed the music for this episode sampled the "buzz" of all those computers running, and made a melody with it that harmonizes with the actual recording in the last few minutes of the episode, which is very cool!  However, I think that sound would drive me insane if I had to live in that building and be there all day…

  5. my thoughts on bitcoin and it's value is that it is easily replaceable by other cryptocurrency. As far as i understand, bitcoin value is driven by demand of how many people use it as a method of transaction. Since there are so many alternative cryptocurrency, I don't think that there will ever be that much demand to justify long term investment. Correct me if im wrong

  6. The largest SCRYPT mining op I know about is 850Gh/s in scrypt asics.  It's a cloud mining operation that's been up for over a year now.

Get this… the ROI is less than 80 days!  Seriously.  The price per Kh/s is rapidly rising though and I would suggest buying in the next few days.  Catch the rewards bump that the additional 350Gh/s that came online is pulling for us. 😀

Feel free to open a no-obligation account at http://scrypt.cc?ref=baagt and see for yourself. 😀

    You're Welcome! :D
